Coronavirus Update

The latest dates for large scale indoor job fair events in the East Midlands have been delayed due to on-going government restrictions. It is hoped when circumstances change new dates will be released for 2021. To be the first to know when the next event is scheduled check out Job Fairs or at @thejobfairs.

Whether face-to-face or online, a Job Fair is a great way to speak with potential employers, giving you an opportunity to become more than just a few words written on a CV. Be ready to expand on your experience and display your personality all which can help increase your chances of getting an interview.

With the range of exhibitors, you have the chance to collect information about jobs; register with employers, ask those burning questions or apply for jobs. Some employers will even hold mini interviews at the fair. Be prepared to answer questions about your experiences and why you’re interested in working with them.

Top Tips for attending job fairs

  • Dress to impress – making a positive first impression is essential. Think about how you are dressed; it’s important to show you are serious about looking for work.
  • Come prepared –  having your up-to-date CV to hand over after a chat with an employer will show you are organised. Look on our online courses page to find someone who can help you write one.
  • Bring your mobile phone – Keep it on silent but it’s a handy tool to take photos of jobs on the job boards; contact numbers and to check out websites of employers at the fair.
  • Check out all the exhibitors – you may find another role that you hadn’t considered before. As well as jobs there are training opportunities; apprenticeships and voluntary roles for that all important experience.
